Dorian Dervite calls for an immediate response from Wanderers

Defender offers his thoughts following Wanderers' narrow Emirates FA Cup defeat to Leeds

Dorian Dervite has called for Wanderers to put their Emirates FA Cup disappointment behind them as quickly as possible, with the Frenchman targeting Tuesday’s league clash with Wolves as the best way to put the weekend’s defeat to bed.

First half goals from Souleymane Doukara and Toumani Diagouraga ultimately proved to be the difference at Macron Stadium in Saturday’s fourth round tie, with Darren Pratley’s late strike ultimately scant consolation at the final whistle.

And speaking to bwfc.co.uk following the game, Dervite is confident that the Whites’ midweek trip to Molineux can offer up the perfect opportunity to bounce back immediately.

“It’s disappointing today,” said the defender. “We didn’t start the game well unfortunately and after the first half, we went back to the dressing room and had a look at ourselves.

“We knew that we had to do much better and in the second half we pushed and got a goal back – at that point, we started to believe a bit more, but unfortunately it didn’t happen for us.

“Their early goal knocked our confidence a little bit – ultimately in football you never know who is going to score first, but you have to react in the right way and I don’t think we did enough straight away.

“Only in the second half did we look dangerous and by that point we had a lot of work to do. We’re all very disappointed tonight.

“We tried to push on and came close through Gary when he hit the post, but unfortunately it just didn’t go in for us,” he added.

“We can’t keep blaming ourselves though or dwell on this result – we have another game on Tuesday and it is a huge match for us. We need the three points and we must look forward now.”

He continued: “We have to believe in ourselves every time we go on the pitch – we need the win and that is what we will go out there to get.

“After the MK Dons game last week where we got a win that gave us a lot of confidence, we need to use that for the games that are coming and we’ll do everything to go out there and pick up points to get us out of this situation.”
