Confirmation of new-look EFL highlights show's new presenter and weekly air-time
Channel 5 have announced that Lynsey Hipgrave is to present their new-look EFL highlights show on Saturday nights.
She will join existing presenter George Riley and guests when the season starts again on Saturday 6 August.
Lynsey has been hosting programmes on BT Sport and also working with Danny Baker on Radio 5 Live every Saturday morning.
Lynsey says of her new role: “I’m delighted to be offered this opportunity. The Sky Bet Championship in particular is going to be more exciting than ever, with Newcastle United and Aston Villa competing with the likes of Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Forest, Derby and Wolves.
"They’re big clubs, with big crowds and some big name managers. I love the lower leagues too… they always provide great goals and the occasional quirky moment. I’m looking forward to bringing all that to a terrestrial audience.”
Mark Sharman at Channel 5 says: “Lynsey has been a genuine football supporter all her life. She brings a depth of knowledge as well as a warm presenting style and we are delighted to welcome her to the team.”
Channel 5’s Saturday night programme will return on Saturday 6 August as “Football on Five”, with the weekly schedule as follows:
- Football on Five: The Championship, 9pm on Saturdays
- Football on Five: Goal Rush, 10pm on Saturdays
Both shows will be repeated on Channel 5 on Sunday mornings.
