Youthful Wanderers side run out comfortable winners at Taurus Park in second pre-season outing
Bolton Wanderers XI continued their unbeaten start to pre-season and recorded their first victory with a comprehensive 6-0 demolition of Radcliffe Borough at Taurus Park on Saturday afternoon.
Led by Under-18s coach David Lee, a youthful Whites side started strongly and were rewarded with eight minutes on the clock as Jack Earing (pictured) headed home from a pinpoint cross.
Buoyed by their opener, they proceeded to double their advantage shortly after with Alex Honeyball this time the man on the end of a clever ball from the flank, with the youngster nodding the ball past the Boro keeper with ease.
In control of the clash, the visitors ensured that they went into the half time break with a seemingly unassailable lead as Earing grabbed his second of the game, rifling the ball into the top corner of the net from distance.
Moving into the second period, youth striker Luca Navarro made it four from 12 yards out with the half just 11 minutes old, while Cameron Moore then notched Wanderers’ fifth, finishing off a superb team move with three minutes of the 90 to go.
Not satisfied with five however, Navarro ensured that it was an afternoon to remember for the XI when tapped the ball home at the second attempt on the stroke of full time after the Boro keeper had spilled an initial goalbound effort.
Speaking following the game, Lee praised the team for their application and endeavour which led to an impressive final scoreline.
“It was a very pleasing performance right across the board,” he said. “Everybody played well and that was reflected in the final score.
“We’re very happy with how the players did, especially considering it’s only their second game of pre-season too.
“They built on a hard-fought draw against Atherton Collieries last weekend though and they thoroughly deserved the victory today.”
