Bolton Wanderers to wear commemorative Burnden Disaster kit ahead of 70th anniversary
Bolton Wanderers will wear the club’s commemorative Burnden Disaster third kit for the upcoming Sky Bet Championship home game against Ipswich Town.
The game will take place at Macron Stadium on Tuesday 8 March, with the following Wednesday marking the 70th anniversary of the Burnden Park disaster during which 33 supporters lost their lives.
Bolton will wear their Macron-manufactured commemorative kit, which thanks to ROK Mobile does not carry any sponsorship branding as a mark of respect for those who died in the disaster.
There will also be a special commemorative matchday programme produced for the game, whilst in the run up to kick off Joanna Forest will sing Abide With Me ahead of a period of silence.
The club are also holding a public memorial service pitchside at Macron Stadium on Wednesday 9 March, exactly 70 years to the day of the Burnden Disaster. The service will begin at 3pm, with Block A at Macron Stadium’s West Stand open from 2.30pm.
Earlier this season £10 from each sale of the limited edition third shirt helped raise £10,000 for Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme, who will be presented with a cheque ahead of the game against Preston North End on Saturday 12 March.
