Clough, Derik and Trotter Show Racism the Red Card

First team trio attend annual event held at the stadium for local schoolchildren

First team trio Zach Clough, Derik Osede and Liam Trotter paid a special visit to Macron Stadium after training on Thursday afternoon to give their backing to Show Racism the Red Card.

An annual event held at the stadium for local primary school children, it is one which aims to educate the youngsters in how they can report discrimination of any kind alongside give them an insight into how victims of it feel.

And following a morning of activities and a tour around the ground, Clough, Derik and Trotter joined Community Ambassador Tony Kelly and BWFC Ladies player Poppy Haslam in a special Q&A with the pupils.

They also took time out to sign autographs for those present and offer up their own advice to the youngsters.

Speaking following the event, Clough said, "I've really enjoyed coming down here today. The kids really seemed to enjoy it and they asked some very good questions too.

"It's really important for them to be educated like this with events that are fun for them given the world that we live in and how multi-cultural it is.

"Everybody is equal though and it's really important that they understand that from a young age. Hopefully we'll have helped them to do just that."
