Bolton Wanderers support organ donation week

How will you start the conversation?

Ooh
been meaning to tell you…
I want to be an organ donor

How will you start the conversation?

Um, ah, ooh or err? It doesn’t matter how you begin to talk about organ donation, it’s just really important that you do.

We know that eight out of 10 people support organ donation. But half the adults in England have NEVER talked to anyone about donating their organs when they die.

People give us many reasons for not having talked about it. Some of the most common are that it didn’t come up, that people don’t really want to talk about death, or that they just haven’t got round to it yet.

We understand that organ donation is a delicate subject to bring up with your family, but with our hints and tips talking about it is easier than you think.

We know only 47% of families agree to donate a relative’s organs if they don’t know it is what they wanted. But this rises dramatically to almost 90% when the decision is known. And many families tell us donation helps with their grief. They feel enormous pride in knowing their relative went on to save lives after they died.

Over all, families are more likely to agree to organ donation if they know it’s what their relative would have wanted. So, please talk it over and help your loved ones to support your decision.

Start a conversation today and help turn an end into a beginning.
