Bolton Wanderers sign Will Buckley

Bolton Wanderers are delighted to announce the signing of Will Buckley on a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old was last on the books of Sunderland having joined them in 2014, but spent time out on loan with Leeds United, Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday in recent seasons.

Born in Oldham meanwhile, Buckley started his career with Rochdale and after graduating from their youth ranks, he impressed for the Spotland outfit – enough to earn a move to then-Championship side Watford in 2010.

After one season at Vicarage Road however, he made the switch to Brighton & Hove Albion, going on to make over a century of appearances in three years on the south-coast, scoring 19 goals in the process.

His efforts caught the eye of Premier League Sunderland and three summers ago, Buckley moved to the Stadium of Light.

And with his contract with the Black Cats set to expire at the end of this month, the wideman has put pen to paper on a deal which will see him play his football at Macron Stadium until the summer of 2019.

Speaking to following confirmation of his move, Buckley said, “I’m really happy to be here. Bolton Wanderers is a massive club and they’ve offered me a real stage to help me get back to where I want to be.”

Manager Phil Parkinson added, “We're delighted to welcome Will to the club. He's a player with a lot of Championship experience and we're looking forward to working with him.”
