Sammy Ameobi in contention to win Sky Bet Championship October Player of the Month award

Sammy Ameobi is in the running to win the Sky Bet Championship's October Player of the Month award.

The winner will be announced on Friday 10 November with the four finalists as follows:

Sammy Ameobi (Bolton Wanderers) - midfielder

Staged his own goal of the month competition with two glorious strikes among his three goals as he sparked Bolton’s revival. Prepared to run at and take on defenders, his efforts against Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland were simply stunning.

Leo Bonatini (Wolverhampton Wanderers) - striker

Scored in every Championship outing in the month. The Brazilian’s five goals in four games have been due reward for his intelligent link-up play with Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaleiro. He also knows how to make space for himself in the box.

Lewis Grabban (Sunderland) – striker

Sunderland’s continuing struggles in October certainly couldn’t be blamed on Grabban, whose determination saw him score five of his side’s seven goals - and in just three-and-a-half games - with braces in the 3-3 draws against Brentford and Bolton.

Richard Keogh (Derby County) – central defender

Outstanding in the East Midlands derby win over Nottingham Forest and cool-headed leader of a defence which conceded just two goals in four games. The Derby captain is also bringing the ball into midfield more this season.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford.
