Wanderers' Under-18s' fight for top spot in their respective league table will go to the final day of the campaign after they came from behind to take a point from their clash away at Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday afternoon.
The Whites started the game well and had a couple of early chances in the first five minutes as Luca Connell, Ronan Darcy and Matthew Fearnley all went close.
And on eight, minutes Darcy got in behind their defence and crossed the ball for Fearnley who should have given Bolton the lead.
On ten minutes however, Crewe broke and scored from their first attack, but Wanderers' reaction was excellent with Smith scoring from distance within a minute of the restart.
Again though, Bolton conceded with a misunderstanding at the back before Darcy equalised when pouncing on a defensive error from Crewe.
In the second half, the Trotters had a lot of possession without breaking down the Railwaymen's defence, but another break from Crewe gave them the lead once more.
Bolton then pushed for the equaliser with Ted Brown and Cameron Moore both going close.
And with 30 minutes remaining, Fearnley struck from distance to make it 3-3 and although the game then became stretched with both teams having chances to win it, the spoils were shared come full time.
The result against the Railwaymen puts them a point ahead of their Leeds United counterparts who they face at Lostock on Saturday, KO 11am.
