Report: Nottingham Forest U23s 1-2 Bolton Wanderers U23s

Bolton Wanderers' Under-23s made it three league victories on the spin when running out 2-1 winners away at their Nottingham Forest counterparts on Monday evening.

With a much changed team due to players going out on loan, the game allowed a number of younger players to come into the team and make a statement of intent.

The team started in a new formation and adapted very well to the system, with the team pressing high to stop Forest from playing out from the back .

The Whites caught their opponents in possession on numerous occasions to create a glut of goalscoring chances.

Their work rate was excellent too, with the players showing great energy and commitment to close down the ball, make tackles and disposess their oppenents.

The Trotters threatened Forest's goal on a couple of occasions within the first half meanwhile, with Joe Pritchard being denied a goalscoring opportunity after being brought down outside of the penalty area by their goalkeeper.

Luca Connell's free-kick however narrowly missed the target.

In the second half, Wanderers continued to threaten Forest's goal, with their keeper making a number of good saves from Luca Navarro and Pritchard.

The visitors weren't to be denied however as Navarro then scored from 15 yards, after good work from Harry Brockbank with a positive run, with him cutting the ball back for his teammate.

Pritchard then created himself another chance before being involved in Wanderers' second goal which came through Shakeel Jones-Griffiths, who - following good play on the edge of the box - scored from 15 yards out.

It was almost three soon after, with Connell hitting his shot over the crossbar.

Despite conceding a dubious penalty through keeper James Aspinall late on however which the home side converted through Brennan Johnson, David Lee's side stood firm and picked up all three points come full time.
