Yanic Wildschut will be out of action for up to three months after damaging ankle ligaments during the Emirates FA Cup match against Walsall.
After seeing a consultant, the on-loan Dutch winger will undergo an operation on Tuesday before embarking on a rehabilitation programme with Wanderers’ medical staff.
Manager Phil Parkinson said: “It’s obviously a blow to lose Yanic for a long period of time but we are hopeful the operation will be a success and he’ll return to training sooner rather than later.”
Meanwhile, on-loan Everton midfielder Joe Williams is also receiving treatment on a thigh injury and will return to training in due course.
