LIAM EDWARDS | Defender signs contract until 2022

We are pleased to announce that Wanderers defender Liam Edwards has had his contract extended until 2022.

Having signed with the club professionally last season after joining from Stoke City, Edwards spent the entirety of last season out on loan at National League North side, Southport under Liam Watson.

The 22-year-old was captain of the Wanderers U23s side that won the 2017/18 Professional Development League national title, playing alongside current Wanderers first teamers Harry Brockbank, Dennis Politic and Connor Hall.

The defender has made an impressive start to the season for the Whites so far, making his first team debut for the club against Wycombe Wanderers on the opening day of the Sky Bet League One season.

He started the first three fixtures of the 2019/20 season for the first team, before an ankle injury picked up in the Carabao Cup tie against Rochdale ruled him out.
