Report: Loughborough University 0-6 Bolton Wanderers

Ian Evatt's Wanderers continued their pre-season preparations with a convincing victory against Loughborough University. However, a positive performance was dampened with Dennis Politic stretchered off the field with a serious looking injury

Wanderers quickly took control of the play, dominating possession in the early stages before taking the lead through Ali Crawford just after the half hour mark as he turned a low Gethin Jones cross past the Loughborough stopper.

Less than sixty seconds later, Wanderers doubled their advantage with Jones once again involved down the right-hand side. The Welshman cut the ball back to Antoni Sarcevic who rocketed a shot into the top left corner from just inside the penalty area.

Just four minutes after taking the lead, Wanderers scored their third to completely take control of proceedings. Ali Crawford delivered a corner into the box and George Taft rose highest to head the ball home.

Eoin Doyle came within inches of scoring a spectacular curler from just outside the box before Nathan Delfouneso scored his first of the day and Wanderers' fourth, turning the ball home from close range with Jones once again the provider after excellent work by Brandon Comley.

Shortly before a raft of changes were made, Wanderers scored their fifth of the day just six minutes into the second half. Played in by Sarcevic, Delfouneso squirmed a shot towards goal which was looped onto the bar by Liam Gordon before the marauding full-back headed the rebound into an empty net.

Wanderers had their sixth goal just three minutes later when the Loughborough keeper paid the price for hesitancy on the ball, with an attempted clearance charged down and into the net by Delfouneso who netted his third goal in two pre-season outings.

Dennis Politic was looking lively following his introduction as was Muhammadu Faal who tested the Loughborough 'keeper with a fierce drive from the edge of the box.

In the latter stages, Politic went down in some distress with a serious injury which saw him ultimately stretchered off the field after receiving treatment for a number of minutes. A real sour end to a largely positive afternoon for the third fixture of pre-season.
