It was with great shock and sadness that Bolton Wanderers Football Club learned about the passing of Cllr David Greenhalgh, Leader of Bolton Council.
David was a wonderful public servant, and good friend to Bolton Wanderers Football Club and had a real passion and vision for Bolton.
Bolton Wanderers Chairman Sharon Brittan said: “I was saddened yesterday to hear the news that David had passed away.
“Over the last two years I really enjoyed my interactions with David whom I found to be a very kind, funny and honest man who was clearly very supportive of everything we were doing at Bolton Wanderers.
“He is in our thoughts and prayers, and our condolences are with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”
The football club will hold a minute’s silence prior to kick-off at tomorrow’s pre-season fixture against Blackburn Rovers at the University of Bolton Stadium.
