Wanderers will face League One rivals Portsmouth in a home quarter-final of the Papa Johns Trophy.
The Whites were first out of the hat when the draw for the last eight was made this morning.
And Ian Evatt’s men were paired with Pompey, who will now make the trip to the University of Bolton Stadium twice inside the space of a week next month.
The Papa Johns Trophy tie is scheduled to be played in the week commencing 9 January.
And Wanderers then face Portsmouth at home in a League One fixture on Saturday 14 January.
An exact date for the Trophy tie, along with ticket prices and sales details, will be released in due course.
