Baka Tops Vote For February Prize

Amadou Bakayoko has been voted the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ League One Player of the Month.

Bakayoko topped a fans’ poll to win the prize for February.

The Wanderers’ striker enjoyed a prolific spell in front of goal last month as he helped the Whites to an impressive run of results.

Bakayoko scored in wins over Cambridge, Oxford, AFC Wimbledon and Lincoln City.

And he also came off the bench to net a dramatic late equaliser at Morecambe to maintain an impressive strike rate of a goal every 73 minutes he was on the pitch during February.

“I’m so proud to have won this award and many thanks to all the fans who voted for me – as well as my team-mates who helped me score the goals. It really means a lot,” said Bakayoko.

“It was a terrific run for me and the team in February and we will really want to go on and finish the season strongly.

“Hopefully I can get a few more goals along the way and we can pick up plenty more points over the final eight games.”

Bakayoko was short-listed alongside Alfie May (Cheltenham Town), Cameron Brannagan (Oxford United), Barry Bannan (Sheffield Wednesday), Ross Stewart (Sunderland) and Callum Lang (Wigan Athletic) and collected the most fans’ votes run via the 90min.com website.
