Bolton Wanderers would like to place on record its sincere thanks to the University of Bolton as our stadium naming rights partnership with the higher education provider comes to a close this summer.
The relationship with the University of Bolton commenced in the summer of 2018 driven by the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor George Holmes, and continued to provide vital financial support for five subsequent years – including during one of the club’s most challenging periods in 2019.
Sharon Brittan, Chairman of Bolton Wanderers said: “The University of Bolton have proved to be a loyal, supportive and steadfast partner that stood shoulder to shoulder with Bolton Wanderers during some of our most difficult days.
“Sponsorship from the University afforded us time during the administration period to build Bolton Wanderers back up from the ground. Their impact cannot be understated, and we will forever regard them as a true friend of the club.
“I’m sure I speak on behalf of all Wanderers when I extend a heartfelt and sincere thank-you to the University of Bolton. And I would like to personally thank Professor George Holmes for his unwavering support during my time as Chairman of this fabulous football club.”
Professor George Holmes said: “When the University took on sponsorship of the stadium, we did so to help out and always said we would bow out once a high-net worth investor sponsorship deal could be found by the club.
“This has now happened due to the brilliant work of the club Chair and her team. So, the University is delighted for Bolton Wanderers and the important new sponsorship deal they have secured. We wish the new sponsors and the club every success.
“We remain ready to support our football team in any times of difficulty in the future, but we can see that they are flying now – and we can reflect on our small but important contribution to that success. Well done!”
The club looks forward to continuing discussions with Professor Holmes and the University of Bolton team regarding future partnership opportunities.
Bolton Wanderers has today announced a record-breaking new stadium naming rights partnership with Bolton-based recyclable building product manufacturer, Toughsheet.
The University of Bolton Stadium will be renamed the Toughsheet Community Stadium from 1st July 2023.
