Bamber Bridge v Wanderers

Wanderers kick off their public pre-season preparations with the short trip to Bamber Bridge on Saturday (KO 3pm).

The Whites will be taking their senior squad to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium as Ian Evatt’s men step up their build-up towards the new campaign.

Wanderers spent last week training in Portugal on their return to pre-season and have since been working hard back at their Lostock base in readiness for the start of their games’ programme.

Evatt’s squad – which has so far been strengthened by the arrival of five new signings – will be playing six pre-season matches open to supporters, with the game at Bamber Bridge getting things under way.

“Things have been going well and we’re looking forward to starting the games,” said the Wanderers’ boss.

“Bamber Bridge is a good place to start and nice and local for the supporters who want to come and watch.

“We’ve got a well-balanced list of games building up to the two excellent home friendlies as our preparations take shape.

“It’s about gradually stepping it up fitness and football-wise, ready to go on the first day of the season in a month’s time.”

Bamber Bridge, who will be playing their third pre-season fixture, reached the Northern Premier League Premier Division play-offs last season after finishing third in the table under former Blackpool and Fleetwood Town midfielder Jamie Milligan.

Entry to Saturday’s game is pay on the gate, with admission £10 adults, £5 concessions and free for U11s. Supporters are asked to arrive in good time to avoid possible queues and please park considerably in areas around the ground.

They then face back-to-back friendlies at the Toughsheet Community Stadium against Premier Division side Everton and Championship club West Bromwich Albion before the League One curtain-raiser at home to Lincoln City on Saturday, 5 August.
