Wanderers’ pre-season build-up is fully under way as the players are put through their paces in Portugal.
For the second year running, boss Ian Evatt has brought his squad to The Algarve for the first part of their pre-season preparations.
A 23-man party flew out on Sunday for a week-long camp as they step up their fitness and start to plan for the 2023/24 campaign.
The summer’s first four new signings – goalkeepers Nathan Baxter and Joel Coleman, wing-back Josh Dacres-Cogley and striker Dan Nlundulu – are part of the group looking to build on last season’s play-off semi-final place and success in the Papa Johns Trophy.
All of Evatt’s senior squad is in Portugal, including last season’s top scorer Dion Charles following his recent commitments with Northern Ireland.
Defender Eoin Toal was forced to miss his country’s European Championship qualifying ties but is part of the travelling squad as he nears a return to fitness following an ankle injury.
He is joined by Gethin Jones – who missed the end of last season with a hamstring injury – while Jack Iredale and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, fresh from signing a new contract, are taking a full part in the build-up with the Whites’ opening pre-season friendly at Bamber Bridge on 8 July less than a fortnight away.
The Wanderers’ media team is in Portugal to capture all the action and news and views from the camp to bring to supporters back home over the next few days.
