Defender George Johnston and the midfield pair of MJ Williams and George Thomason all featured for the B team to build up their match fitness ahead of first-team comebacks.
Wideman Lloyd Isgrove also started against Burnley’s U21s and scored for the second game in a row in a B Team friendly before coming off early on as a precautionary measure.
Johnston and Williams played for the first time since the end of January after recovering from injury.
And Thomason was also given the chance to get in valuable minutes after making it back as far as the bench at first-team level following the ankle injury he sustained at the start of December.
With no League One fixture after Friday night’s game at Sheffield Wednesday before Wanderers’ Wembley date in the Papa Johns Trophy in a fortnight’s time, boss Ian Evatt took the opportunity to give his senior men a run-out at the Clarets’ training ground.
Thomason completed the full 90 minutes, with Williams replaced late on and Johnston playing for 70 minutes in a 3-2 loss for Matt Craddock’s side in the latest of a series of additional friendly fixtures for the young Whites.
Isgrove had fired Wanderers ahead inside the opening 10 minutes with a tidy finish as he delivered a low strike into the far corner.
Burnley equalised before the break with an excellent free-kick from Seb Thompson.
And even though Finlay Lockett restored Wanderers’ lead after 64 minutes with an excellent finish into the top corner, the Clarets hit back to secure victory thanks to an equaliser from Renaldo Torraj and then another direct strike from a free-kick from Trevon Bryan with 10 minutes to go.
Wanderers’ B Team is next in action with another friendly against Stockport County B at Edgeley Park next Tuesday night.
