Annual BWFC Carol Service Confirmed

Carol Service

Bolton Wanderers Football Club is delighted to announce the date for the 2025 Annual Christmas Carol Service, inviting the entire town to gather for an evening of celebration, reflection and community spirit.

The service will take place on Wednesday 17 December in the Boxoso Premier Suite at the Toughsheet Community Stadium from 7pm to 8pm.

As the fixture list intensifies over Christmas, the club is opening its doors to offer a moment of pause and togetherness. This year’s service promises to be a true celebration of Bolton’s identity, blending the traditional sounds of our industrial past with the vibrant, inclusive voices of our future.

A Celebration of Local Talent

We are honoured to confirm that the service will be led by the Reverend Hannah Lane, the Vicar of Bolton. A native of Westhoughton and a former teacher at Rumworth Special School, Rev Lane made history as the first female incumbent of Bolton Parish Church.

A passionate brass musician herself - often found playing the tuba with the Astley Unlimited Band - Rev Lane brings a unique musicality and warmth to the pulpit. She will guide the congregation through an evening of readings and carols designed to unite the town.

Providing the soundtrack for the evening will be the Farnworth and Walkden Brass Band. With a lineage tracing back to 1848 - predating even the Wanderers themselves - the band represents the enduring spirit of our borough. Formed from the merger of the historic Farnworth and Walkden bands, their resounding brass fanfare is the perfect accompaniment to our favourite carols.

Adding a modern flourish to proceedings will be the Horwich Community Choir. Established with a mission that "everyone can sing," the choir has become a beacon of inclusivity. Known for their uplifting renditions of modern classics - from The Greatest Showman to Coldplay - they will ensure the Boxoso Premier Suite is filled with festive energy.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Wanderers Christmas without a visit from our very own Lofty the Lion, who will be on hand to meet Junior Whites and spread some furry festive cheer!

Completing the Wanderers family lineup, players from both the Men’s and Women’s first teams will be in attendance for autographs and photographs.
