Bolton Wanderers’ Annual Service of Remembrance will take place at the Toughsheet Community Stadium at 6:30pm on Thursday 23rd May.
This year’s service feels particularly poignant as a Football Club following the passing of Wanderers’ supporter Iain Purslow on the day we faced Cheltenham Town at home in January.
The outpouring of love and support for Iain’s family, both from supporters of our club as well as football fans nationwide, was incredibly moving.
With this universal support from fans of all clubs, and with Iain being one of those that will be remembered during the evening, the theme of this year’s service will be ‘One Family’.
Led by Club Chaplain Phil Mason, the service will commence pitch side where a wreath will be laid, thinking of all those who have had their ashes scattered on the pitch during the season. The service will then continue in the 1877 Suite.
During the service in the Suite, the names of loved ones that have been inscribed in the Memorial Book or engraved on a Memorial brick during the previous 12 months, will be read out.
Loved ones lost from previous years will also be displayed on a big screen inside during the service, with attendees invited to come forward and light candles in memory of their loved ones.
Light refreshments will be served following the service, before conclusion of the evening.
Entry to the event is free, with no tickets required. Stewards will be on hand to help direct attendees to the North West tunnel at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, where guests will enter before the service commences pitch side.
