An excellent fightback capped by three second-half goals saw the B Team collect their first win of pre-season.
The young Whites trailed 2-1 at the break to the North-West Counties League outfit after a goal from Wanderers’ trialists had got Andy Taylor’s side back into the contest.
Conor Lewis and Mark Isong (main picture) then both hit the target early in the second half to put Wanderers ahead before youth-teamer Latrell Lewis came off the bench to add the fourth and complete the comeback.
B Team Coach Taylor, whose side was still missing a number of players through injury and first-team duty, said: “If ever the phrase ‘a game of two halves was apt, that was it. In the first half hour they were really, really good and it took us a while to get to grips with it. They got two goals up and we were on the ropes a little bit.
“But we got some information into the lads at half-time and, in fairness, to the players they executed it and it was night and day. It was miles better.
“It was another good test for them and this what it’s about. We’re here to test them and see how they react and help them learn and develop. It's coming together. Once we get into the season I imagine some players might come back to us or might go on loan but it's a in a good place.
"People are being pushed, which is as it should be, and given exposure and opportunity which is what it's about and hopefully they continue to make the most of the opportunities they get."
