B Team Wins Bounce Game

The B Team enjoyed an excellent run-out against a Burnley U21 side and came out 2-1 winners in a training ground-game at Lostock.

The young Whites have played a series of friendly games against high-quality opposition to fill out their fixture programme alongside their Central League and Central League Cup commitments.

And the latest saw Andy Taylor’s side beat the Clarets with goals from Harry Leigh and Daeshon Lawrence, via a late penalty.

The B Team was well beaten by Burnley earlier in the season and faced a younger visiting line-up this time between two of the Clarets’ Premier League 2 fixtures.

But it was still a pleasing display from the Whites, with a number of eye-catching performances.

Harley Irwin (above) looked at ease in a less familiar central defensive position behind Sonny Sharples, who dictated a lot of the play, and Leigh who capped his fine afternoon when drilling home the opening goal.

Wanderers could and should have scored more but Lawrence’s perseverance finally paid off with the late winner.

Burnley had levelled with one of their few efforts on target before the Whites – who finished with a handful of youth team players taking their chance to step up – got their reward in the dying minutes when Lawrence converted from the spot.

Their next scheduled Central League game sees the Whites go to Chesterfield in a fortnight's time.
