Gavin Bazunu has been named in the Republic of Ireland squad for the opening fixtures of their UEFA Nations League campaign.
Heimir HallgrÃmsson's side begin their Group B3 programme away to Kosovo on Thursday 24 September and face Israel three days later, before returning to Dublin to host Austria on Thursday 1 October and Israel on Sunday 4 October.
It is Bazunu's first call-up since November 2025, when he travelled with the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Portugal and Hungary. The 24-year-old has won 22 senior caps since making his debut in 2021.
Bazunu joined Wanderers from Southampton on 28 August, signing a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee. The Dubliner came through at Shamrock Rovers before moving to Manchester City at 17, and impressed on loan at Rochdale and then Portsmouth, where he won Player of the Season and made the PFA League One Team of the Year. He went on to make 92 appearances for Southampton across four years, with further spells at Standard Liège and Stoke City.
He has played twice for Wanderers and produced a standout display in Saturday's 1-0 win over Cardiff City, making 10 saves to earn his first clean sheet in a Wanderers shirt as Thierry Gale headed a 90th-minute winner.
Good luck, Gavin!
