Bohdi is running 100 miles at 100 football clubs, one mile at each ground, to raise money for charities close to his family’s heart. Before Wanderers welcomed Boro on Friday night, he completed his Bolton mile, roughly three and a half laps of the stadium, in wet and stormy conditions.
Plenty of people would have waited for the weather to clear. Bohdi simply got his head down and finished the job.
Ahead of the game, Bohdi, his mum Laura and his older brother Cohen were welcomed by Chairman Sharon Brittan, Head Coach Steven Schumacher and club captain Eoin Toal.
Sharon said: “It was an honour to meet Laura, Bohdi and Cohen. To take on a mile in conditions like that, at eight years old, tells you everything about Bohdi’s character. He’s doing this for his brothers and for the charities that have supported his family, and I hope Wanderers supporters will get behind him.”
Why Bohdi is running
Bohdi’s older brothers, Cohen and Indie, both have Cockayne Syndrome, a life-limiting condition. Bohdi describes them as his “daft, amazing brothers”, and his family wants to give something back to the charities that have helped them.
Every pound raised is split equally between three causes:
- The Teesside Family Foundation, which helped fund Cohen’s electric wheelchair
- Amy and Friends, which supports families affected by Cockayne Syndrome and linked DNA repair disorders
- Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation, which helped create an accessible garden where Bohdi and his brothers can play football together
Bohdi began his challenge in January and has until the start of 2027 to complete it. At the time of writing, 223 supporters have donated £7,950.98 towards his £9,000 target.
In his own words: “100 miles is a long way, but with your help, I know I can do it.”
Everyone at Bolton Wanderers wishes Bohdi, Laura, Cohen and Indie the very best for the rest of the challenge.
