Bolton Wanderers and InsideOut® Mark World Mental Health Day at Bolton v Stoke

Bolton Wanderers Football Club will mark World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10 October by putting a spotlight on its mental health partnership with InsideOut® at the club's home fixture against Stoke City.

Bolton Wanderers and InsideOut, a digital mental health platform, partnered in March 2026, becoming one of the first clubs in English Football offer free mental health support not only to players and staff, but to supporters too. Ahead of October’s home game, the club is encouraging fans to mark World Mental Health Day by exploring the free support available to them through the partnership.

All Bolton Wanderers fans aged 18 and over have free access to the InsideOut® platform, including Remi®, a 24/7 conversational wellbeing coach designed to help people manage stress, anxiety and low mood through evidence-based tools and clinical programmes.

World Mental Health Day is a moment for people, workplaces and communities across the world to talk more openly about mental health. The fixture gives Bolton Wanderers the chance to remind fans that support through InsideOut® is there whenever they need it, particularly among men, who are significantly less likely to seek support despite experiencing high rates of mental health challenges.

"Football clubs sit at the heart of their communities," said Danielle Heap, Group Head of People. "World Mental Health Day is a good moment to remind our fans that it's okay not to be okay, and that support through our partnership with InsideOut® is available to them whenever they need it."

Supporters attending Saturday's game will be able to access the platform by scanning QR codes displayed around the stadium and in the matchday programme, with stadium announcements marking World Mental Health Day and encouraging fans to explore the support on offer.

InsideOut® provides a range of confidential tools designed to support mental health and wellbeing, including guided programmes for stress and anxiety reduction, self-help resources, and 24/7 conversational text-based support with Remi®, an AI-powered coach that offers discreet, clinically safe round-the-clock support.

The platform adheres to NICE clinical standards, is NHS approved and has been developed using clinically recognised approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness-based interventions, with the aim of making mental health support more accessible and scalable.

Laura Stembridge, founder and CEO of InsideOut, said “World Mental Health Day is a natural moment to build on the momentum of the partnership”.

"Football is about community, connection and supporting each other through both the highs and the difficult moments in life," she said. "World Mental Health Day is the perfect opportunity to remind Bolton Wanderers fans that the support we made available together back in March is still there for them, and that reaching out is a sign of strength."

The activation forms part of a wider campaign encouraging people to "Let the InsideOut" — opening up conversations about mental health and reducing stigma.

As awareness around mental wellbeing continues to grow across sport, Bolton Wanderers hope the day will help ensure that supporters know they are never alone when facing life's challenges.
