Bolton Wanderers Football Club and Bolton Wanderers in the Community today announced a dedicated, limited-time campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, focusing on the club’s pink Third Kit.
From 9am this Friday, 24th October, through midnight on Sunday, 26th October, supporters receive 15% off all pink Third Kit items, both online and in the Club Shop.
Critically, £5 from every item sold from the Third Kit range, during this 72-hour period will be donated directly to local charity, Boot Out Breast Cancer (BOBC).
Boot Out Breast Cancer is a local volunteer-led charity founded by survivor Debbie Dowie in 2010. The charity works to provide much-needed, state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment across NHS Trusts in England and Wales. BOBC has a proven history of tangible support in Bolton, providing equipment for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. These efforts speed up early diagnosis, recognised as a crucial factor in improving long-term patient outcomes.
This activation is a focused extension of the club’s commitment to community welfare. The pink Third Kit already represents the diverse heart of Bolton, working in partnership with Bolton Wanderers in the Community (BWitC) and Bolton Council.
Debbie Dowie, Founder & Chair of Boot Out Breast Cancer: "When I set up Boot Out Breast Cancer after my own diagnosis, the mission was simple: ensure prompt care and attention for everyone in our community. We are determined to fill the vital funding gap for diagnostic equipment, and we are incredibly proud that our efforts directly benefit patients in the breast unit at the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.
"Seeing the Wanderers community embrace the pink kit with such enthusiasm this weekend gives us immense hope. Every single kit sale, and that crucial £5 donation, directly helps us purchase the diagnostic technology that delivers early diagnosis - which, as I know firsthand, is the key to ultimately saving lives. We also launch our newly updated free app this Friday to raise awareness that breast cancer affects both men and women."
Ben Lawton, CEO of Bolton Wanderers in the Community: “Partnering with Debbie Dowie and Boot Out Breast Cancer reinforces our charity and club ethos of 'One Club, One Community, One Town'. When fans invest in the third kit, they make a direct, measurable investment into our town and this weekend the critical health and well-being of their neighbours through life-saving diagnostic care.
"We are proud of the continued support the third kit provides to our charity and encourage everyone to proudly show their support for our club, our town and Boot Out Breast Cancer this weekend."
