Jack Bonham has signed a one-year contract extension with Bolton Wanderers.
The goalkeeper joined the Whites from Stoke City in January 2026 and established himself as Steven Schumacher's number one almost immediately, making his debut in the derby victory against Wigan Athletic and holding the shirt for the rest of the campaign.
"Easy decision," Bonham said. "Obviously off the back of the success we had last year, it was a no-brainer for me. I wanted to get it done as quickly as possible and try and create some more memories at this club."
Bonham starred in both legs of the play-off semi-final against Bradford City as Wanderers beat the Bantams over both legs. He finished the job at Wembley, where victory over Stockport County took the club back to the Championship after seven years away.
"It was a dream ending, really. It was a bit of a whirlwind for me in January and I'm glad it got done. I was delighted to play my part in the play-offs. We got over the line and that game and that following week was probably the highlight of my career. It was just some celebration.
"It meant an incredible amount to not only myself, but everyone at the club and obviously the fans. To finally get over the line must have been as good a feeling for us as it was for them. It was literally the dream ending to what has been a long wait for the club."
The 33-year-old brought more than 250 senior appearances with him to the Toughsheet Community Stadium. He came through the academy at Watford, spent six years at Brentford with loan spells at Carlisle United and Bristol Rovers, played 79 times for Gillingham and made 65 appearances across five seasons at Stoke. He also represented the Republic of Ireland at under-17 level.
"Some clubs just feel right and some places feel like you want to be there for as long as possible, and that's definitely the case here at Bolton," he added. "I'm just delighted to sign another year and hopefully it will continue beyond that as well."
His new deal keeps him at Wanderers until summer 2028.
