Eoin Toal named Captain as Wanderers confirm leadership trio

Ahead of Sunday's League One opener against Stockport County, Bolton Wanderers can confirm that defender Eoin Toal is the new Captain of the Football Club.

The Northern Ireland international takes the armband ahead of the 2025/26 season, and follows in the footsteps of many Wanderers' greats in leading the Whites' playing group.

Eoin joined Wanderers in the summer of 2022 and has made 104 appearances for the club following his arrival from Derry City.

With an eye for a goal - 10 in all competitions - and his absolute willingness to defend, Toaly is the perfect candidate to take on the role as the Whites face County on Sunday afternoon to kickstart their season.

Wanderers can also confirm that Eoin will be supported in his role by fellow defenders George Johnston and Chris Forino, who will share the role of Vice Captain.

Entering into his fifth season at the club, George is known for his all-action performances at the heart of Wanderers' back-line since his arrival back in June 2021.

Just nine appearances away from hitting 150 games in a Wanderers' shirt, Johnno's experience and knowledge will prove vital as he now steps into his vice captaincy role.

Joining Wanderers just over 12 months ago, Chris has made a huge impression both on and off-the-field

Embracing the Football Club completely, emphasised by becoming a Bolton Wanderers in the Community ambassador as well as his impressive displays in central defence - including the winner on Derby Day away at Wigan last season - Chris makes it a strong trio to lead from the front this season.

Well deserved, lads!
