Eoin Toal spoke of his pride at becoming Captain of Bolton Wanderers, before looking ahead to Saturday's homecoming against Plymouth Argyle.
The Northern Ireland international was handed the armband by boss Steven Schumacher ahead of the season opener against Stockport County, supported by Chris Forino and George Johnston as Vice Captains.
For Eoin, it is an honour to follow in the footsteps of many Wanderers' greats to lead the playing group for the 2025/26 season and beyond.
"It's a proud moment," he said.
But it's not just for myself, but for my family as well. It's a real privilege and it's something that I won't be taking lightly. It is a real honour to be captain of this Football Club, it's a massive club and a great fanbase and I'm looking forward to the season ahead."
Wanderers are back at home on the weekend when facing Plymouth Argyle on Saturday 9th August, kick-off 3pm.
Huge numbers are already expected to get behind the lads at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, and the skipper is firmly in the belief of the influence the fans can have on the weekend.
"You've seen them at Stockport, right behind us from minute one and travelling in their numbers," he said.
"We know that they do that everywhere we go, and they're always there with us. Hopefully, they stick by us and bring good numbers again this weekend, which I know they will and continue getting behind us.
"We'll look at the Stockport game, pick out what we need to sort out and take it into Saturday's game. It's one to look forward to."
Over 20,000 tickets have been snapped up for the visit of Tom Cleverley's side on the weekend - and you can help to create a superb atmosphere and secure your seat!
