Wanderers have spread their net into the European market to make young French winger Kyliane Dong their fifth new signing of the summer.

The Whites have landed the exciting 21-year-old on a season-long loan from German top-flight outfit Augsburg with the view to a permanent deal in 12 months’ time.

Dong – a former France Under-20 international – joins the Whites with extensive Ligue 2 experience, as well as a taste of the French top-flight, under his belt following a productive loan spell with Pau last season and now gets the chance to move into English football in the Championship with Wanderers.

The pacy wideman, who can play on either flank, also previously played for Troyes in the second tier of French football and made over 50 appearances for the club – part of the Manchester City-led City Group of clubs – after making a senior debut at the age of 18 in Ligue 1.

His performances in Ligue 2 following Troyes’ relegation in 2023 attracted the attention of Augsbug, who took him to the Bundesliga in July, 2025 and included him in their first-team squad at the start of last season before allowing him to return to France on a temporary basis and now join the Whites as Steven Schumacher’s latest recruit ahead of the new Championship season.

Dong, who scored six times for Pau last season as he moved towards 100 senior games so far in his career, said: “It means a lot. I think it’s an important step in my young career, and I’m grateful for the trust the club has shown in me. I’ll try to do the very best I can.

“I had some time to look around, to visit the stadium and the club and I think there is a really good energy here and I can’t wait to step onto the pitch. This will be the first time I play in the Championship. I’m excited, I can’t wait, and I hope we’ll be able to keep Bolton in the Championship.

“I started playing football in France and, as a French player, England is a dream. It’s the dream of many people, including mine, and to finally be here is exceptional. If I have one message to share it would be that I can’t wait to start the season, and I’m looking forward to seeing you all with a lot of enthusiasm.”

Dong’s signing follows the arrivals of Ben Davies, Akin Famewo, Luca Stephenson and David Watson so far this summer as Wanderers prepare to head to Slovakia next week for the next stage of their pre-season preparations.
