Inwood Ready To Help Fire Shots

Young defender Sam Inwood has joined Aldershot Town on loan for the rest of the season.

Inwood makes the switch to the National League side – which is not governed by the same transfer windows as EFL clubs – to earn the chance of regular first-team football.

Former long-serving Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman has just taken over as the Shots’ new manager and makes Inwood one of his first news signings at the EBB Stadium.

The left-sided defender – who recently received a first call-up to the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad – made his League One debut for Wanderers with back-to-back starts at the end of last season following an earlier taste of senior football in the EFL Trophy.

Inwood, 20, also started the Whites’ Carabao Cup first-round tie against Sheffield Wednesday in August – picking up a red card in a penalty shoot-out defeat – and following a short spell out through injury now gets the chance to further his development with Aldershot for the remainder of the campaign.

Former EFL club Shots are currently 20th in the National League and face an FA Cup first-round trip to National League South side Weston-super-Mare on Saturday for Coleman’s first game in charge.
