Bolton Wanderers is pleased to announce that goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson has signed a two-year contract extension with the club. The Bury-born stopper, a product of the club’s Academy, has committed his future to the Whites until 2027, extending a journey that began over a decade ago.

Hutchinson’s association with Wanderers started when he joined the Academy at the age of eight. His progression through the age groups led to him signing his first professional terms in June 2021. Recently, he was presented with a Legacy Cap, an initiative honouring the commitment shown by academy graduates.

To further his development, Hutchinson has gained significant senior experience through a series of loan moves. Spells at clubs including Atherton Collieries, Bamber Bridge, and Marine FC provided vital exposure to the demands of competitive senior football. His progress was highlighted by an emergency loan to fellow League One club Crawley Town, where he made his full league debut. He has also been a key figure for the B-Team.

Head Coach Steven Schumacher said: “We are pleased Luke has signed his new deal. He’s a brilliant lad and his attitude is first-class. You don’t spend that long at a football club, coming all the way through from being a kid, without having the right character.

“The Academy is such an important part of this club and there has to be a pathway for our own players. The loans have been massive for him. You have to go out and find a way in senior football and he has done that.

“He knows there is still loads of work to do, but the opportunity is there for him. It is up to him now to keep pushing, to demand the highest standards from himself every day, and to prove he is ready to make that final step.”
