There is something about a yellow Wanderers shirt.
Ask anyone who was there in the early nineties and they will tell you exactly where they stood, who they were with and what happened next. Those were the years this club climbed out of the Third Division and simply kept going. The shirts from that era have never really left us.
Tonight at Highbury, against Fleetwood Town, the 2026/27 Third Kit will be worn by the lads.
A proper nod to the nineties
Designed by Macron, the shirt is predominantly yellow with navy and red detailing drawn from the club’s traditional palette. There is a navy knitted polo collar with red trim, navy cuffs finished with a red lower edge, and a tonal embossed geometric graphic running through the body. Yellow shorts carry wide navy side panels and the yellow socks are finished with a navy band, a thin red stripe and BWFC lettering.
It is made using Macron Eco Fabric, produced from post-consumer recycled plastic, with Eco Micromesh inserts for breathability.
The inspiration comes from the strips worn by two men who need no introduction around here. John McGinlay and David Lee.
Made of Memories
Which is why, when it came to revealing this shirt, we did not put it on a billboard. We took it into a room full of Wanderers.
Super John and Didsy joined a session of Sporting Memories, the monthly get-together for over-55s at the Toughsheet where the only thing anyone needs in common is being a Wanderer. Past guests have included Jack Dearden and Peter Reid. The two of them unveiled the shirt, then stayed to swap stories about the days they wore it.
Sat alongside them were young people from Premier League Kicks, the Premier League funded programme that Bolton Wanderers in the Community uses to create opportunities for young people in high-need areas and those at risk of anti-social behaviour and youth violence.
Two generations. One room. The same badge.
