The Whites secured the three points last time out at the Toughsheet Community Stadium thanks to goals from Eoin Toal and Mason Burstow either side of half time.

The Tykes have won two out of two so far in Sky Bet League One and will hoping to maintain that record on home soil on Saturday. An impressive away win at Plymouth Argyle on the opening day was followed up by a late dramatic turnaround at home to Burton Albion last week, completed by a 96th minute winner from David McGoldrick.

Press Conferences

Steven Schumacher: "Yeah it's a big game for us, they're a team who by their standards underperformed last year.

"They didn't really mount a playoff challenge which was unexpected because of the quality that they've got. I think since Conor's gone in, he's gone in and done a really good job.

"He's got them playing a style in a way that suits their players. They've had a great start, they won away impressively against Argyle. They came from behind at home against Burton which showed good character."

Barnsley Boss Conor Hourihane: "We need to embrace this week and really look forward to. We’ll go into it with confidence and belief.

"It will be a difficult challenge and Steven has got them in a good place with some really good players. We’ll do our homework and hopefully we can cause them some problems as well.

"It will be a really good game and fingers crossed we come out on the right side of it."

Team News

For Wanderers, the squad on Wednesday have come through unscathed from the cup fixture against Sheffield Wednesday.

Steven Schumacher has been boosted by Sam Dalby getting a good few days of training under his belt but admitted he may need some B Team games to get back to full fitness. Richard Taylor has also returned to training following his injury in pre-season and will be monitored as to when he can return to play.

With just over two weeks of the transfer window Barnsley, like everyone, are still trying to add to their ranks but for today's game it's just one injury concern for the Tykes.

Maël de Gevigney is a doubt for the game with a sprained ankle but Barnsley will assess the defender on the day of the game.
