Wanderers head to South Wales for their penultimate away fixture of the Sky Bet League One season against Cardiff City on Saturday lunchtime, kick-off (12:30pm).
Following an Easter weekend which saw Steven Schumacher’s men earn a 2-1 win at Plymouth Argyle on Good Friday before Easter Monday’s 2-2 draw against Stockport County at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, Wanderers are back on their travels this weekend to contest a clash in the Welsh capital.
Opponents Cardiff are second in the third-tier having collected 78 points from their 40 games so far this term ahead of welcoming Wanderers to the Cardiff City Stadium, as Brian Barry-Murphy’s Bluebirds aim for an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship.
In the reverse meeting between the two sides, Amario Cozier-Duberry’s 94th minute strike secured Wanderers three points in October’s 1-0 victory at home.
Press Conferences
Steven Schumacher:
“Cardiff have been outstanding for the majority of the season and they have recently fallen to second in the league but for a long period they were the best team, so we need to be at it and look forward to the challenge.
“It’s a really good stadium, I’m sure that it will be a really good atmosphere, their crowd are going to be up for it, as will our crowd, I don’t know exactly how many we are taking but if it’s anything that we took to Plymouth and this season up and down the country, it should lend itself to be a good atmosphere and a good game of football, like the first game was at our place. It should be decent to watch and I’m looking forward to it.
“I’m sure the game will be tight and both teams will have to work really hard to break the other one down, but it’s a challenge we’re looking forward to and these are the best games you want to be involved in.
“We’ve got five games left and they are all good games. We can’t take our eye off the ball and we can’t look too far ahead and think what if, or look too far behind and panic, we need to focus on ourselves and pick up three points where we can and pick up more momentum as these things are going to be important, and keep on playing well.”
Cardiff City Head Coach, Brian Barry-Murphy:
“They’re a side that have been present all season at the very top of the table. They’re clearly a strong team that’s recruited a lot of players and has a lot of strength in this division.
"They have a strong team with strikers, and their strengths are obvious to us, so we need to relish that challenge and try to overcome it, and we’ll do everything possible to do that.”
