Match Preview | Huddersfield Town v Wanderers

Huddersfield Town Preview

Wanderers make the trip to John Smith's Stadium on Saturday looking to respond to Tuesday's late defeat to Charlton in a last game in charge for Ian Evatt.

Last time the two sides met came in the Vertu Trophy when the Whites emerged victorious in a 3-1 home win in the first knock-out round of the competition.

A sold out away end of over 2,300 Whites will be in South Yorkshire backing Julian Darby, Andy Taylor and Andrew Tutte who are in interim charge for this League One matchup.

The hosts come into this game off the back of a 2-2 draw away at Blackpool where the Terriers came from two goals down to take a point.

Press Conference

Julian Darby: "I was really pleased with how they trained. It would be easy for them to come off the gas and say ‘who are these guys, I'll wait for the manager to come'. But they were bang at it.

"I don't think Huddersfield have been beaten in the league since the beginning of October. They’re on a 16-game unbeaten run so I've got no illusions. It's not going to be easy.

"But we're the underdogs. I love being an underdog, so let's be positive, let's turn up, let's go after them if we can and see where it takes us."

Huddersfield Head Coach Michael Duff: "We don't know what we're going to face now, Bolton were pretty structured in the way they approached the game (versus Charlton), the way they wanted to play. I went to the game Tuesday night quite a lot of it you already know but you just want to get your eyes on certain things.

"Now with Julian taking the team - we've got to focus on us now. They've got some good players, they're not out of it, they're not bottom of the league."

Team News

Wanderers will make a late decision on the fitness of defenders  Ricardo Almeida Santos and Eoin Toal. Santos was forced off at half time of the Cambridge United game last weekend whereas Toal has been missing from previous squad's due to a hamstring problem.

Midfielder Jay Matete starts a three-match ban for the Whites after accepting an FA charge of violent conduct relating to an incident in Tuesday night's loss to Charlton.

Huddersfield Midfielder Lasse Sorensen could feature for Town on Saturday, but is unlikely to start with the amount of time the Dane has been out of action for with a hamstring injury.

Centre-half Radinio Balker has been receiving minutes on the pitch after he had been kept out of the squad with an ankle injury he picked up in pre-season.

Form Guide

After Tuesday's defeat, Wanderers remain three points off the play-off places in ninth place.

Fourth-placed Huddersfield come into this one 16 games unbeaten in the league with three draws and one win in their previous four games.

Their most recent home result was a goalless draw with Rotherham United, with the hosts receiving a sending off eight minutes from time.
