Mansfield Town Preview

Wanderers return to league action tonight in Mansfield after back-to-back matches in cup competitions last week.

It was a successful night on Tuesday as the Whites defeated Bradford City in the Vertu Trophy but were knocked out of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

The Stags are on a run of three consecutive league defeats. Losing to Northampton Town, Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City.

Mansfield did manage to advance to Round Three of the FA Cup with a penalty shoot-out win over League Two side Accrington Stanley.

Press Conferences

Steven Schumacher: "It's a big week for us, two challenging league games that we want to try and take advantage of. We obviously didn't play well on Saturday, played well in the other (Vertu Trophy) cup game on Tuesday and our performance level on Saturday dropped.

"We didn't get anything from the game, which is what we deserved, but we want to try and respond from that, certainly on Tuesday, and have a good reaction and see if we can get a result that will be better than the one we got at the weekend."

Mansfield Town Boss Nigel Clough: "I saw them earlier in the season and Cardiff are impressive but I thought Bolton were the best footballing team I had seen.

"They have a lot of dangerous players and they will have been hurt by the cup exit. Sometimes it is not the exit, it is the manner it happens and the margin.

"I saw Richie Wellens’ interview on Friday night and he certainly wasn’t happy. I am sure it will be the same case with Steven at Bolton. We will see but we are expecting them to be at it, let’s put it that way."

Team News

Full-back Richard Taylor went for a scan on Monday after feeling his groin in Saturday's FA Cup defeat at Swindon.

But centre-half George Johnston is set to return to the defensive unit after he was rested on Saturday afternoon.
