Steven Schumacher's Wanderers return to the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday after a league victory on the road in midweek over Mansfield Town.
Jordi Osei-Tutu's first half strike was the difference between the sides in a match of few chances. The hosts were reduced to ten men early on with Rhys Oates shown a straight red card for a strong sliding challenge.
The Grecians ended a run of three league games without a win on Tuesday night, taking all three points at home to AFC Wimbledon thanks to a Jack McMillan goal in the final ten minutes of the game.
Exeter City sit just one point above the relegation places in 20th position. The Devonshire side have an exciting FA Cup fixture to look forward to in the New Year as they travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City in Round Three.
Press Conferences
Steven Schumacher: "We wanted to try and get three points in the league, that was the main objective. We dealt with Swindon, forgot about that and wanted to get back on track in the league but our league form has been really good so we managed to get the victory on Tuesday night that we wanted.
"The atmosphere around the building has been positive. Every now and again you have a bad result and there's no time to dwell on it for too long. What's important is you focus on the next game, so we did that. We managed to win another away game, which is important, it keeps that tally improving.
"We managed to keep another clean sheet and got three big points on the board, which keeps us in the top six where we need to be."
Exeter City Boss Gary Caldwell: "The next challenge is right around the corner and it doesn’t get much bigger in my opinion in League One than Bolton away.
"We know we are going to have to be as good or probably better than we have been in the previous two games to go there and win. We know how difficult a stadium it is to go and win at, but we know from recent experience last year of how to go and do that.
"It was a brilliant win there and we are going to have to do the same again, performance-wise, to try and do that again."

John McAtee will still be missing for Saturday but Ibrahim Cissoko will be back to compete for a place after missing the last couple of fixtures due to the birth of his child.
Exeter defender Jack Fitzwater will be missing from Saturday's match after picking up his fifth yellow card of the league season in their win over AFC Wimbledon.
