Wanderers return to the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Tuesday night for a Sky Bet League One fixture against Stevenage, kick-off 7:45pm.
Steven Schumacher’s Whites will be aiming for a swift response following on from their 2-0 defeat at Cardiff City on Saturday lunchtime, when Stevenage are visitors to BL6.
Wanderers are fourth in the third-tier on 70 points with four games to play, three of which are at home, having lost just once at the Toughsheet Community Stadium all season in the league.
Alex Revell’s Boro will make the journey up to the North-West from Hertfordshire occupying the final play-off position, two places and three points behind Wanderers.
Stevenage have won four out of their last five games, including an impressive 1-0 victory away at Bradford City on Saturday, to strengthen their top six hopes.
The two sides last met in January, which ended in a goalless draw as Wanderers picked up a point on their travels.
Press Conferences:
Steven Schumacher:
“Stevenage don't have loads of possession - on average they're the fourth lowest in the league - so we expect them to defend in a compact shape and maybe as a low block at times, so you have to be patient to find your moments.
“Creativity is going to be massive. We need our individual dribblers, as well as the lads who are at the top end of the pitch, to step up and perform. I don't think we've had enough of that in recent games where people are creating chances for themselves, so we need that to happen because against these types of defenders, who are good defenders and enjoy defending, you need to try and test them.
“We scored two goals in our last home game against another really good team (Stockport County) and we've scored goals at home consistently, so we need to make sure that we're at it and try and make the most of our opportunities.
“We’ve got three out of the last four games at home. This is a game in hand and obviously one that's been rearranged, so we need to try and take advantage of it. But we won't take anything from the game if we don't play to the levels that we feel we're capable of.”
Stevenage Manager, Alex Revell
“It’s a great challenge, they are a fantastic team, they have a fantastic group of players, and our players will be really looking forward to it.
“When you’re in this position, especially with the run that we’re on, we have to make sure that we stay focused and make sure that we do our work, respect the opposition that we are playing against.
“Everyone is fighting for something, so we have to make sure that we stay nice and grounded and focused, and we’ll keep together."
