Bolton Wanderers is delighted to confirm the arrival of Nathan Broome to strengthen the Whites’ goalkeeping department.
Broome has signed a three-year contract at the Toughsheet Community Stadium after reaching the end of his existing deal at Championship club Swansea City.
The 23-year-old adds to Wanderers’ summer signings after spending pre-season training with the Whites – including as part of the training camp in Spain earlier this month – and featuring in the club's warm-up games so far.
Broome becomes the second new goalkeeper to join Steven Schumacher’s squad ahead of the new campaign following the season-long loan signing of Chelsea’s England Under-21 international Teddy Sharman-Lowe.
Growing up in Warrington, Broome – capped himself at up to U18 level by England – started out in the youth set-up at Manchester City before spending time at Stoke City as part of their U23 side and gaining loan experience at Mickleover Town.
He then joined AFC Wimbledon in January, 2022 and after appearing in the League and FA Cups at the start of the following season got his first taste of the EFL with a run of games in League Two towards the end of the 2022/23 season.
Swansea then signed Broome in August, 2023 to add to the competition in their goalkeeping ranks and after a short loan spell at Port Vale, he now gets the chance to further his career back in the North-West with Wanderers.
Steven Schumacher, Head Coach of Bolton Wanderers, said: “We are delighted to officially welcome Nathan to the club.
“Having the opportunity to bring Nathan in on trial the last few weeks has been great for us, as we’ve had the chance to get a closer look at him and his character, both on and off-the-field.
“Everything we have seen from Nathan, we have been impressed by and we look forward to seeing him further develop with us over the next three years.”
Nathan Broome on officially signing for the Whites: “I’m really excited. It’s a really good opportunity for me and although it’s been a process, I’m really glad to be here.
“It’s an easy decision as it’s a club I know very well and it’s a move closer to home. I’ve been with the lads for a few weeks so the settling in process has been easy.
“Knowing I’m here for the next three years, it’s a journey I can’t wait to get on board with and being a fan of the club, it’s something I want to help achieve for the supporters.”
