On behalf of all at Bolton Wanderers, I wish you a very Happy Christmas and peaceful and prosperous New Year.
Games come thick and fast at this time of year and the lads are very busy in training ready to work hard on the field. However, during this season the hard work carries on off the field too. Christmas is just as much about giving as receiving and our Club plays its part in the town by giving to those in need.
On the website you will have seen the visits the players have made to the Royal Bolton Hospital, Derian House and Bolton Hospice giving out gifts and sharing some joy. Club and Community staff have also been assisting the charity Urban Outreach, to get out 2000 hampers in Bolton for Christmas Day, helping to feed over 8,000 people with the “Christmas Dinner on Jesus” project.
It is so easy to get caught up in the busyness of the season and never have a thought for those who are in need in our community, but it does us good to stop and think and offer support in any way we can. I am delighted that those who represent Bolton Wanderers on the field are getting involved with those who need it the most off the field in our town and communities.
Giving in this way is a reminder of the reason for this season and takes us back to the first Christmas and the birth of a child born in Bethlehem, named Jesus. He went on to establish his own team and still has millions of supporters in the world today. His key message was about love for others and looking out for those in need.
At our recent Carol Service we remembered what the reason for the season was all about and you can listen to the Service on Bolton FM on Christmas morning between 9am-10am or on 'Listen Again' on the Bolton FM website.
Have a wonderful Christmas time with all your family and friends.
We look forward to an exciting New Year and second half of the season.
