Preview | Stockport County v Wanderers

Match Preview Stockport

Another Wanderers campaign begins this Sunday away at Stockport County in front of a sold out away end of 1,193 Whites.

The Wanderers went all of pre-season unbeaten with five wins and one draw scoring 13 goals and conceding just three.

Stockport County just missed out on automatic promotion last season finishing in 3rd behind Birmingham City and Wrexham.

County went into the play-offs and faced Leyton Orient over two legs. An incredibly tight two fixtures resulted in a penalty shoot-out which Orient were victorious in who headed through to the Wembley play-off final.

Press Conferences

Steven Schumacher: "It's been a long off-season, an equally long pre-season and a decent pre-season. We feel like we've done some good work, we've brought in new players to the squad.

"You've got to play everyone, getting drawn on the opening day against a local rival adds a bit of excitement and drawn against a team who did really well last year who were really strong again poses its own challenge.

"They're a strong outfit they've got loads of decent players, they've got loads of momentum from last year done so well to get to the playoffs.

"They'll be aware of what we've been doing, they'll understand what our pre-season games have looked like and the players who are in good form.

"We just ask the players to go and be confident, stick to the plan of what we've been doing. We've drummed in certain messages from day one of pre-season on what we need to look like as a team so we want them to go out and implement those messages if they can.
