Blackett-Taylor v Wimbledon

Corey Blackett-Taylor's debut goal sealed all three points for the Whites this lunchtime as the Whites make it three wins in the league.

The Dons put numerous crosses into the Wanderers box in the early stages of the match. On 11 minutes Nathan Asiimwe put a cross into the path of Marcus Browne but the forwards header went straight up into the air and out of play for a goal kick.

But just three minutes later the Whites took the lead courtesy of one of their new faces. Wanderers defended a Dons corner well and cleared the ball to Rob Apter who broke away. The winger played the ball off to John McAtee on the right who crossed midfield and switched the ball over to the left for Corey Blackett-Taylor who had all the time in the world to set himself and place the ball past Nathon Bishop for the first goal of the game.

The hosts tried to answer back immediately through Jake Reeves who hammered a shot from the edge of the area but the midfielder miss hit the effort as it spun off his foot and over the bar.

After the hour mark, Wanderers produced a barrage of chances to double their lead but weren’t able to do so. Ethan Erhahon did well to intercept the ball high up the pitch as the ball fell to McAtee. The forward ran through on goal but fired his effort right at Bishop.

Two minutes later, Erhahon looked to curl one towards the top left corner from the right. The accuracy was perfect but it lacked the pace to trouble Bishop. McAtee had another shot at goal soon after as Wanderers won the ball high up the pitch once again but the effort from the edge of the area was once again claimed by Bishop.

Apter came incredibly close on 41 minutes to making it 2-0. He got onto the ball in the area and left his man for dead by cutting in onto his left foot and curled a shot towards the top left corner but it just went over the bar.

Then two minutes from the break, Blackett-Taylor beat the offside trap on the left and played the ball across the face of goal to Apter but as the winger turned his body to finish with his stronger left foot he couldn’t get the shot on target with the ball going wide of the post.

Wimbledon had the first shot of the second half on 47 minutes. Marcus Browne cut in from the right and ran up the edge of the area before shooting back across goal but it went well wide of Jack Bonham’s post.

A free kick for the Dons seven minutes later resulted in a huge chance for Alistair Smith. The direct free-kick was blocked, before Steve Seddon sent the rebound into the area which was flicked on into the path of Smith but he couldn’t put his header from close range on target.

More pressure from the home side just after the hour mark. A short corner was played which made its way to the back of the area. Steve Seddon swung a foot at it from the edge of the area but didn’t make the right connection with the ball as it rolled wide of the goal.

Wanderers looked to kill the game off with a second. A throw in was taken by George Johnston to Sam Dalby who returned the ball to the centre half before the ball was played into Blackett-Taylor. The winger crossed the ball into the area for McAtee but he couldn’t quite connect with the header as it went wide.

Substitute Ibrahim Cissoko quicky made himself known to the Dons by beating several players as he ran towards the area on 75 minutes but the winger put his shot wide of goal.

A minute later Kyle Dempsey tested Bishop at his near post from close range. Bishop got down well to parry the effort away from goal.
