Wanderers got valuable minutes in the tank at the MOL Arena against DAC 1904 Streda on Friday evening.
Head Coach Steven Schumacher named two separate teams for each half against DAC 1904, who finished runners-up in the Slovakian top-flight last term. Summer recruits Luca Stephenson and Akin Famewo were named in the Head Coach's first-half line-up.
First-half goals from Giorgi Gagua and Tsotne Kapanadze saw Wanderers behind at the interval prior to Ruben Rodrigues' brilliant volley pulling one back with 15 minutes left.
Wanderers, wearing their brand-new all-white home kit, were backed by a strong travelling away support at the MOL Arena.
The Whites started strongly in the friendly, with John McAtee finding Joel Randall in the box, but Streda managed to clear.
New signing Stephenson was then well-positioned to deliver a sliding tackle and deny Abdoulaye Gueye a clear goal-scoring opportunity in the box.
Wanderers were behind on 18 minutes when Richard Taylor was dispossessed by Gagua on the edge of the box, with the Georgian forward's low strike finding Jack Bonham's bottom left-corner.
With 22 minutes played, Ammar Ramadan bent a rising effort across goal from inside the box and just wide of Bonham's right-post after Gueye's build-up on the left.
Midway through the half, both sets of players left the field for a hydration break. Upon resumption of play, McAtee curled wide from 25-yards following Sam Dalby's knockdown.
DAC 1904 scored their second on 38 minutes played, when Kapanadze drove at Wanderers' backline after receiving possession to shoot right-footed from the right-edge of the box beyond Bonham's dive.
Aiming to half the deficit late in the first-half, Dalby's snapshot from eight yards out went wide of goalkeeper Leandro Filipe's bottom left-post after an excellent move involving Xavier Simons, Josh Sheehan and Randall.
Ending the half positively, Sheehan weaved his way into the box to slide the ball under Filipe, however the DAC 1904 defence managed to clear off the line.
Wanderers' second-half team took to the field, which included recent signings Ben Davies, David Watson and Kyliane Dong.
The Whites started the half showing attacking intent. Rodrigues clipped a pass for Cyrus Christie to run into space and deliver a deep cross, though his ball evaded a white shirt.
Watson was in the thick of the action early on when he prevented a DAC 1904 breakaway with two sliding tackles
Chris Forino guided Rodrigues' corner to Cyrus Christie, but the defender's header went off target.
After the second hydration break, Wanderers pulled one back on 76 minutes, when Christie stood up a cross from the right towards the back post, which an unmarked Rodrigues chested down and volleyed into the top-left corner.
Pushing to find an elusive equaliser, Dong crossed from the byline after beating his man, with the ball collected by Filipe.
The Whites could not draw level, with the friendly providing minutes in the tank for Schumacher's squad.
