Kyle Dempsey got a goal back for Wanderers but Steven Schumacher's side couldn't find the winner as the Whites have to settle for a point.
The hosts created the best opportunity of the opening stages just after five minutes. Glenn Middleton got down the left-wing and put a low driven ball into the area which evaded everyone except Luke Molyneux at the back post. The forward had plenty of time in the area but scuffed his shot as it rolled into the hands of Tyler Miller.
On the half hour mark Wanderers had a chance to open the scoring through Sam Dalby. Jordi Osei-Tutu was fouled around 25-yards from goal. Xavier Simons whipped the free-kick into the area which met the head of Dalby but he couldn’t keep the header down as the ball went over the bar.
Five minutes later a great save from Tyler Miller denied Rovers the lead. A header following a free-kick was guided on target by Jay McGrath. The ball was destined for the top corner but Miller got a strong hand to it to push it away from danger. Shortly afterwards McGrath had another chance from a free-kick as the ball dropped to the centre-half in the six-yard-box. He also scuffed his strike which saw Miller comfortably hang on to the ball.
Ethan Erhahon took on a shot from distance at the second phase of a Wanderers corner. The ball fell to the midfielder 25-yards-out but it was always rising as the ball went over Ian Lawlor’s crossbar.
Middleton fired the hosts into the lead after the break after a scramble where Wanderers couldn’t get the ball away. Osei-Tutu got an initial block in to deny Rovers from close range before the ball fell to Middleton in the area who smashed home the opening goal of the game.
Substitute John McAtee tried to get Wanderers back into the game on 67 minutes following a Josh Sheehan cross. McGrath won the header which fell kindly to McAtee, who chested the ball down and volleyed towards goal but saw his shot go over the bar.
Five minutes later Middleton looked to add to his and Doncaster’s tally. Another low ball was played into the area which found the scorer at the back of the box but this time his effort flew over Miller’s goal.
More pressure from Wanderers on 77 minutes as George Johnston came close with a header from inside the area but again it went over the bar.
But the Whites found the leveler through Kyle Dempsey on 80 minutes. Amario Cozier-Duberry got past his man on the right and cut the ball back to Dempsey in the area who scooped the ball over Lawlor’s head and into the back of the net.
Wanderers went looking for a winner late on. Dempsey in the thick of it again has his powerful cross found Dalby in the middle but his header fizzed past the post.
