Another second half performance to be proud of for the Whites but they couldn't complete the comeback as they settle for a point in South Yorkshire.
Wanderers started the game on the front foot. Ruben Rodrigues looked to open the scoring following a Max Conway corner. The ball was swung in and cleared at the front post but only as far as Rodrigues who struck the ball at an awkward height but it went wide of the goal.
The Millers answered back straight away with a shot of their own. Rotherham won the ball high up in Wanderers territory and Sam Nombe was played in. The forward turned towards goal and hit an effort towards the far left-hand corner but Jack Bonham did well to tip it round the post.
Corey Blackett-Taylor then had two big chances in the space of eight minutes to put the Whites in front. His first on ten minutes was directed towards the near post from a tight angle inside the area on the left but keeper Ted Cann read it well. The second was put on a plate by Conway who threaded the ball through to Blackett-Taylor as he ran away on goal. The winger had the option to play in Sam Dalby on the right but went himself and saw his shot saved by Cann. Unfortunately Blackett-Taylor sustained a leg injury in the lead up to the chance and had to be replaced by Thierry Gale.
Five minutes after the half-hour mark defender Zak Jules tried his luck. Following a corner for the home side, Wanderers struggled to clear their lines. A bouncing ball found its way to Jules who hit it on the volley but skied his effort over.
However, the relegation threatened side took the lead on 39 minutes. A Joe Powell cross into the area bounced off Jordi Osei-Tutu and into the path of Nombe who found the back of the net from close range.
The hosts doubled their lead just three minutes later. Ar’Jany Martha played an inch perfect pass to Nombe from the left and beat Bonham at his near post to make it 2-0.
Almost a perfect start to the second half as half -time substitute Kyle Dempsey played in a lovely ball along the ground in the area to Burstow. The striker managed to stretch a leg out to the ball but could not find the target.
The Whites came out a different side in the second half. Conway won a corner on the left and took the set-piece himself. The corner was put towards the back post for Burstow who headed back across goal to Kenny and the forward played the ball across the six-yard box for Chris Forino to poke the ball home to halve the deficit.
The hosts went close straight from kick-off in an attempt to re-establish their lead. Martha got down the left and played a ball to Harry Gray in the six-yard box but the midfielder could not find the target.
Rotherham hit the target once more on 64 minutes through Powell. A corner was cleared to the edge of the area but only as far as Powell who perhaps hit the ball too well as it went straight into the hands of Bonham.
Wanderers then had a flurry of chance but could not convert. First Kenny cut in from the right and hit a venomous shot with his left foot which stung the palms of Cann before being cleared away. Then Gale was sent away on goal down the left but the winger’s shot from inside the area was tame and was easy for Cann.
A great save from Bonham denied Rotherham a certain winner. Gray cut inside and looked to curl an effort into the far corner but the Wanderers number one dived to his left and parried the ball round the post.
The Whites found their deserved equaliser through Dalby. Kenny played a fantastic ball to the front post where Dalby met it and glanced the ball past Cann to earn Wanderers a point.
A bombardment on the Rotherham goal but Wanderers could not force home a winner at the death.
