Chris Forino versus Stevenage

In a game of few opportunities it finishes goalless in Stevenage. Mason Burstow and John McAtee had chances to give the Whites the lead in the first and second half respectively but Steven Schumacher's side have to make do with a point.

Stevenage tested Jack Bonham inside two minutes. Jamie Reid with a header towards goal but there was a real lack of pace on the attempt and it was easy for Bonham to claim.

Wanderers responded ten minutes later through Amario Cozier-Duberry. The forward was played in on the right by Xavier Simons. The Whites number 19 cut in on his dangerous left foot but the strike just went over the bar.

From that attack the hosts went up the other end and fashioned an opportunity of their own. Jasper Pattenden cut in from the right and ran up the edge of the 18-yard box before firing a shot in. However, the defender was off balance as he struck it and it rolled on through to Bonham.

On 17 minutes Mason Burstow came close to opening the scoring. Jordi Osei-Tutu found the striker in the area who struck a venomous effort low towards goal but Filip Marschall did well in goal to parry it away for a corner.

Five minutes later Josh Sheehan, fresh from firing home the winner on Saturday, tried his luck from 30-yards. The effort was on target but Marschall saw it all the way and held on to the audacious attempt.

The half turned scrappy with neither side creating any real opportunities before the break. Ten minutes into the second half, Stevenage almost took the lead through Charlie Goode. A corner was swung in, headed back across goal from the back post towards Goode but the defender’s header just went wide.

A great chance for substitute John McAtee just before the 70 minute mark. A great run from Osei-Tutu on the right as he skipped past three Stevenage defenders to reach the area. McAtee took the ball off the defender and struck an effort towards goal but he didn’t get the connection he would have wanted as the ball flashed wide of the post.

McAtee was in the thick of the action as again he looked to break the deadlock. On 74 minutes the forward dispossessed his man and ran towards goal with the ball at his feet. The goal opened up for the substitute but his strike was down the throat of Marschall.
