U18s

Wanderers found themselves in the Lancashire FA Professional Youth Cup Final against Blackburn Rovers under-18’s after a 3-0 victory against Morecambe in the semi-finals, writes Ben Livingstone.

It was slow start from the young Whites as they found themselves conceding the opener 15 minutes in after a dominant start from Rovers.

Blackburn continued to hold possession despite Wanderers starting to cause problems down the right as an over hit cross found Emile Oliver who came close to finding Daeshon Lawrence just before the break.

A bright start to the second-half for Wanderers saw a first shot on goal. David Abimbola created space for himself inside the box and his strike was dragged wide of the Rovers goal.

The introduction of Conor Lewis in the 65th minute saw an immediate impact when he linked up with Harrison Fleury down the left, Lewis came onto his stronger right foot but his effort was comfortably saved.

Wanderers had shown promise in the second-half but Blackburn took a 2-0 lead after failure to deal with a cross into the box.

With five minutes left on the clock, Rovers wrapped up the competition as they added a third.
